Dr. Ruth P. Newton, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist specialized in the use of attachment and affect regulation theories in interventions from birth through adulthood. She was a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at UCSD and has been in the Allan Schore Los Angeles Study Group for Affective Neurobiology since 2004. Dr. Newton has extensive clinical experience working with children of all ages, individual adults, couples, and families using attachment and affect regulation interventions. She is the author of The Attachment Connection designed to help parents raise secure, emotionally regulated children. Dr. Newton is the originator and developer of Regulation Therapy, the topic of her next book to be published in 2012.

Joy Brewster, M.Ed., CCC is a licensed speech and language therapist. She received her Master’s degree in Speech Pathology from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. She has 19 years years of pediatric experience in clinic, hospital and school settings. She has collaborated with Dr. Newton in attachment and affect regulation evaluations and classes for a number of years.






Heather Chamberlain, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist who works with children and families and specializes in grief, bereavement, and coping with medical illnesses such  as cancer.  Through art, talk, and play, Dr.  Chamberlain supports children and parents as they cope with life's challenges.  Dr. Chamberlain also trained under Dr. Ruth Newton and provides attachment and affect regulation-based interventions.





Meghan C. Hammel M.A. is a doctoral student completing requirements for her Ph.D. in clinical psychology and is a licensed psychological assistant PSB 35709. She is currently receiving training in attachment and affect regulation by Dr. Ruth Newton. Meghan has experience working with children diagnosed with various medical conditions including gastrointestinal problems, pediatric cancer, and hematological disorders. She has additionally worked with children and adults who have experienced trauma, abuse, and homelessness.



Ryan Lloyd, Psy.D. is a Registered Psychological Assistant (PSB-35376) and is training in attachment and affect regulation with Dr. Ruth Newton.  He is also earning a certificate in Interpersonal Neurobiology with Dr. Dan Siegel, and has had extensive experience working with children, adults, and families at USC Medical Center and UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior.  Dr. Lloyd has also worked extensively with children with developmental disabilities, early childhood mental health, and military families.
